Anti-Bullying Week and Cool To Be Kind Day 2024
Anti-Bullying Week ran this year from the 11th – 15th November. Many thanks to the schools which joined in our campaign to act against bullying. We are very grateful for your support.
What is Anti-Bullying Week?
Anti-Bullying Week is coordinated in England and Wales by the Anti-Bullying Alliance. Last November, 80% of schools marked the week, reaching over 7.5 million children and young people. That’s a big impact! This year’s theme of Choose Respect was selected following consultation with teachers and pupils. They wanted a theme that empowered them to do something positive to counter the harm and hurt that bullying causes.
What is Cool to be Kind Day?
Cool To Be Kind Day takes place on the Wednesday of Anti-Bullying Week because it coincides with Kindndess Day UK and World Kindness Day which falls on the 13th. It is an opportunity to celebrate the values of kindness and promote positive moves to reduce bullying. It’s a chance for everyone – in school, at home, in the community or online – to thank others for their kindness.

Kindness and Our Charity
The charity has inspired events, debates, and discussions about the power of empathy and compassion not just in schools but in organisations and civil society. For example, the Kindival Festival at the Chelsea College of Art in 2009. On 10 November 2011, we organised a public conference with the Big Society Network at Somerset House to debate the level of kindness in the City.
Act Against Bullying continues to invite discussion about how the role of kindness in society has changed.
Scientists continue to explore the benefits of the act of kindness on individuals and society. AAB continues to promote its importance in countering bullying.
Get involved
We’ve made quite a splash with our campaigns. But with your help, we can continue to change social attitudes on bullying and abuse wherever it occurs.
